These are some interesting points. I still feel this article leaves out relevant factors and their impact. From my understanding, how much I feel comfortable with having Signal on my desktop, it plays a role which OS is installed, how well my machine is configured in terms of security/privacy, which and how many different programs do I use, what are my usage patterns.. Some people aren't even affected by certain attack vectors, e.g. I don't actually use any browser extensions at all.

None of this makes your points any less valid, however they are points to consider as well when making a decision about having or not having Signal installed on desktop too. That being said I appreciate the input! For the moment I'll keep using Signal on mobile and Linux desktop both. I might reconsider in the future though.

How close to IOS or GrapheneOS levels of sandboxing can I get on a pc? Are Flatpaks secure enough to accomplish this? I would love to see a breakdown of the different computer operating systems out there and what level of sandboxing/security they have.
