Not only should we expect that the UK government has requested the same of every Big Tech firm operating in the UK, but we should also expect that the US government has already been granted a backdoor to the same. I'm thinking of the Prism program that Snowden exposed in 2013. I'm also thinking that the "Apple is a privacy platform" message back in 2015 and 2016, after the San Bernadino terrorist attack, was nothing by a psyop (I mean the privacy message is bogus, not necessarily the attack).
