Nice ideas but do you have advice that specifically can be effected, beyond this vague statement?
"One of the easiest but most impactful things you can do is say no to restoring from backup.
This single decision sets the tone for your entire digital footprint. It gives you a clean slate. And it lets you rebuild on your terms."
Does this mean to turn off auto backup in the first place? Or maybe not back up at all? How does this "clean slate" magically manifest? In the event of a device crash, should one not restore from back up? If so, then why not just reset to factory settings every time we shut down our computers?
What do you mean exactly? I think I missed that part in your article. I did read one of your pieces about iCloud backup though—what a coincidence! Just over a week ago, I reset my phone to factory settings because I forgot my passcode (I hardly ever use it), and I had disabled it to avoid entering it every time my screen turned off and on.
Unfortunately, I ended up losing all of my old iCloud data, including my iCloud email. I’ve been trying to recover it, and after speaking with Apple Support, I should be able to retrieve it in about three days.
I also have an iPad, so I’m considering restoring the backup from that instead and not syncing anything back to my phone. Could you send me the video where you explain what you meant?

Wrong ending was uploaded, apologies! Edited now! There are also actionable steps in our video.
Hi Naomi,
What do you mean exactly? I think I missed that part in your article. I did read one of your pieces about iCloud backup though—what a coincidence! Thanks so much!
